It was raining last night as I approached a 90 degree turn in the road.  As the roads were slick, I was unable to slow make the turn or slow down enough to avoid hitting a huge bolder someone has for decoration in their yard.  Details of the accident aren't very interesting and I wasn't hurt at all nor was anyone else.  But what I thought I'd talk about here, was how the incident was handled.

I'd forgotten my cell phone, and was unable to call for assistance.  But after 10-15 minutes a policeman came by to see what happened.  Being a small suburban town, there isn't much to do so of course, 3 cruisers were needed to deal with the situation of my minivan sliding off the road.  My big concern was them detecting I was trans and then making a big deal out of it.  Being dark, I wasn't too worried about my appearance giving me away, but of course, my voice is an issue and of course I had to give the whole story so I had to talk alot.

I suppose I passed with my voice as they had no problem accepting me as Leann (my official stuff is all Leann now) and I couldn't detect any comments or looks that caused me concern.  Perhaps they didn't care or had good sensitivity training and society really just is fine with transsexuals.  I still find that hard to believe as much as me passing with my voice, but one of the two must be true.  I suspect the latter, as some of the ways I was treated and talked to were consistant with what I'd expect for a woman.  They were concerned I was warm enough and cleared out spaces in their front seats of their cars for me, and I did detect a little bit of flirting from the officer who drove me to my destination after the tow truck came.

So, phew... I had some nasty prison images go through my head as they were talking to me.  But all was handled as if I was just any other woman :)
